A brief introduction to the historical development of Ocarina
According to legend, China's Ocarina originated from Taoyu in Neolithic Age or Shang and Zhou Dynasties, and its shape and timbre are similar, but its pronunciation principle is different. The earliest unearthed bones are one-hole casket and many bird bones with different holes, which were used by the original inhabitants in Hemudu site in Yuyao, Zhejiang, China in 1973. Some bone whistles can also blow out simple tones, similar to bird songs, about 7000 years ago. There are also two pottery rafts unearthed from the site of Yangshao cultural matriarchal clan commune in banpo village, Xi' an, about 6700 years ago; In addition, ancient pottery caskets have been unearthed in the Neolithic site in Jingcun, Wanrong County, Shanxi Province, the Huoshaogou cultural site in Yumen, Gansu Province, the early Shang site in Erligang, Henan Province, and the Yinxu site in Anyang, Henan Province. Tao caskets and Ocarina have deep historical roots, and it can be speculated that Ocarina appeared earlier, but it is still inconclusive when it appeared. Wudu unearthed in Jiayu County, Hubei Province, China is the oldest Ocarina-like object found at present, and its

structure is exactly the same as that of modern Ocarina, with a history of nearly 3,000 years. At the earliest, only two or three holes were drilled, and four or five notes could be played. According to legend, it was made of mud by a shepherd boy in ancient times, which was used to call cows, courage and play. After the Han and Tang Dynasties, Ocarina flowed from the palace to the people. After the Han Dynasty, the materials and shapes were diversified, the decorative colors were strong, and the appearance was particularly beautiful, but the range was narrow, the system and melody were not standardized, and it could only be circulated among the people as a toy whistle. After the 1980s, the production technology of Ocarina has been significantly improved. The famous Zonghan Ocarina and Dingji Ocarina appeared in Taiwan Province, China, and four-hole, six-hole, seven-hole, eight-hole, nine-hole, ten-hole, twelve-hole and multi-cavity compound pipe Ocarina with different materials and shapes were developed in Beijing, mainland China. Some artists developed elegant ocarina, dragon rhyme ocarina, workshop flute and multi-cavity compound pipe according to the traditional style of China.
